The lawsuit, brought by shareholder Kim Barovic in federal court in Seattle on Friday, charges that directors and executives, including founder Bill Gates and former Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer, failed to manage the company properly and that the board's investigation was insufficient into how the miscue occurred. The legal action is the first to emerge from a humiliating episode for Microsoft, which the software company has never fully explained and has accounted for only as a "technical error." In March last year, the European Union levied its largest ever antitrust fine against Microsoft for breaking a legally binding commitment made in 2009 to ensure that consumers in Europe had a choice of how they access the internet, rather than defaulting to Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser.

Now it's Samsung's turn to go on the offensive and undercut Apple's effort to paint it as a copycat once again. In its opening last week, Samsung offered a brief preview of its plan, which will play out over the course of the next two weeks. That includes an effort to downplay Apple's copycat claims by focusing on features it offered that Apple hadn't, like larger-screened phones with removable batteries, LTE, styluses, NFC sensors, and certain software features like multi-window applications.

Internet users have little they can do right now, aside from checking whether the websites they access on a regular basis are affected in any way – especially those sites where they have user accounts – and then changing their passwords for those sites once they have been patched. Changing a password now would not have any effect on a site that’s still vulnerable to Heartbleed, as hackers would still be able to access passwords no matter how complex they’d be. With that said, however, people looking to set up stronger passwords than “password” or “123456” in

The HTC One (M8)’s design is sleek and elegant, the build is fantastic and the software includes a number of great new features. The camera, however, is a mixed bag. HTC’s new Duo Camera technology includes a second lens that collects depth information and facilitates some pretty awesome effects, but we found the quality of photos and videos captured by HTC’s UltraPixel camera to be lacking. Some people have seen much better results than we did with the M8′s camera, however, and now one blog has put together a nice quick guide to help users get the most out of the camera on HTC’s new flagship

In fact, considering last year’s Galaxy S4 fell well short of expectations in terms of functionality and sales, some might say we’ve been waiting for the Galaxy S5′s debut for more than a year now. But beginning Friday, all that is behind us — the next-generation flagship Galaxy S5 has finally arrived. We took a look at Samsung’s Galaxy S5 back in February and a few things were clear right from the start. First of all, the S5 is a big improvement of its predecessor in a number of key areas. The display is bigger and brighter, the software has been refined in some areas, and Samsung mixed in a

IOS and OS X never incorporated the vulnerable software and key Web-based services were not affected,” an Apple spokesperson told the publication. While Apple would not say what those key web services are, 9to5Mac says it tested apple.com and various iTunes servers that host Apple’s online stores using an online tool that checks for Heartbleed and all of them are secure. It's joined on shelves by the Samsung Gear 2 and Samsung Gear 2 Neo smartwatches, and the Samsung Gear Fit health tracker, which also launch today. The reasons for moving up to a Galaxy S5 are fairly straightforward: it features the fastest processor on the market, offers a number of built-in fitness features, and is immune to the water-related incidents that would spell doom for most phones. But there are also valid arguments for holding off: Samsung's software customizations haven't been toned down much, and that new fingerprint sensor is getting less than stellar marks all around.

The system, reports the Associated Press, uses augmented AK-47s that shoot green lasers while mimicking the sound and recoil of a real gun when targets are hit. Accuracy is tracked on computers tethered nearby, something Hamas officials told the AP was developed with in-house software and modified rifles. The laser gun program was developed out of necessity.

Helkowski told the entire story on a Reddit IamA thread earlier this week, offering a PDF copy of the FBI's search warrant as proof of his identity and his story. In November 2013, Helkowski was an employee at a software-consulting company, working on a University of Maryland website.
